Leadership Madison sessions begin Sept. 14
07/28/2010
The 2010 session of Leadership Madison begins on Sept. 14 and ends in March. Applications have been e-mailed to all Chamber of Commerce members, and anyone interested in participating in the program should submit their registration to the Chamber by Aug. 13.

Leadership Madison is open to anyone, not just Chamber members. The 11 sessions of Leadership Madison are typically held every other Tuesday morning, with graduation in March.

The sessions will explore different facets of leadership and broaden each participant's understanding of the greater Madison community.

Margaret Sumption of the Sumption and Wyland consulting firm will conduct the first session, helping participants explore their leadership style by completing the Myers Briggs test and evaluation and other exercises.

Throughout the program, participants will learn from different local leaders about meeting management, how to be a leader employers would fight to keep, and the importance of community involvement. They will hear from elected officials about the value of public service. They will also tour the Madison hospital, elementary school, Lake County Courthouse, Dakota State University and several other area businesses.

Participants will travel to Pierre in January for Madison Hosts the Legislature. Participants will have an opportunity to learn about working with a group on a community project. The leadership committee will guide participants through the process and provide adequate class time to work on their group projects.

Anyone interested in participating or wanting more information should contact the Chamber at 256-2454 or director@chamberofmadisonsd.com. Tuition is $250 for Chamber members and $350 for non-members.
