On Thursday at about 7:08 p.m., the Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded to an injury crash on 450th Avenue near the intersection with 240th Street.

Vehicle one driven by Raymond Walker, 24, of Pensacola, Fla., was traveling north on 450th Avenue when he lost control of his vehicle, entering the east ditch.

In order to correct the vehicle and keep it on the roadway, he overcorrected, rolling into the west ditch and in the west field. Walker was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.

He was able to summon help and was transported by ambulance to Madison Regional Health System for his injuries. He was later transported by helicopter to a Sioux Falls hospital for serious injuries sustained in the rollover crash.

Agencies that responded to the crash were the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Madison Fire Department and Madison Ambulance.

Speed was a factor in the crash, according to the sheriff’s report. The vehicle, a 2003 Toyota Landcruiser, is a total loss and was towed from the scene.
